About Gintama

Gintama is a manga series by Sorachi Hideaki and was released in WEEKLY SHONEN JUMP from 2003 - 2019.

The story follows Gintoki, a freelance Odd-Jobs ("Yorozuya") on his daily quest to navigate life, being a human in his late-twenties without any goals and money (can't we all relate?). Ten years before, Gintoki fought in the "Joui War" against "Amanto", aliens from outer space, who sucessfully invaded Japan. The Samurai lost and have to deal with these new times now.
When Shinpachi, Kagura and Sadaharu (a dog) come into Gintokis life by sheer accident, they work together as "Yorozuya Gin-chan" and not only encounter the funniest comedic moments but also grow together als a family.

They meet more and more of Edos people, friendships and rivalries form and Gintoki carves a life out for himself.

... To talk about Gintama would probably take me ages - and an entire website (which I'm going to create... one day :D) - but in short, it's a story about an extended Found Family and taking place in a Shonen World after the actual Shonen-tropey hero journey. It's filled with rather crude but excellent humor, satire, breathtaking action, and a huge cast of wonderful characters and especially wonderful female characters.
